I just moved to LA from New York with a couple of suitcases and an attachment to the concept that if you don’t like things, you leave (for some place you’ve never been before, apologies to Lou Reed). I also had some fairly delusional ideas about not missing the people, places, and things that I’ve been around for 30 years or so. Then: enter the K hole. Naturally, I have been spending my fair share of time sulking and listening to music. And of course, it’s a hometown band that caught my ear (and my heart), but live and let (me) live. Skaters is the current project the grew out of the hiatus of Dead Trees and Little Joy. I was sitting in the bar that is probably somewhat responsible for their formation (hi, Cabin!) when Mikey (ok, full name Michael Cummings, but he IS my best friend’s little bro so I get license to use diminutive nick-names) announced to us that he had a new band. It was called sk8ters, and they would soon be recording. Literally (not literally) two minutes later, the Schemers EP ended up in my inbox, and I couldn’t help but love it. And I’m guessing you will too. You can download it HERE.
You can also follow Skaters on .
