[SEVEN QUESTIONS IN HEAVEN – BERSERKTOWN EDITION] Feels

 

Every week leading up to Berserktown II, we will be posting a Seven Questions interview with a band playing the fest. This week: Feels. Last week: Zig Zags. 

Mostly I try to get rid of my feels, usually by burying them in the warm numbing glow of television (mmm hours and hours of Netflix and yes I am still watching is that a rhetorical question). Not, however, when it comes to  with a capital F, one of the only few bands I will eschew my TV friends for. Further, I will actually go into the outside world to hear their special brand of hermetic, melodic punk rock which, name fitting, is visceral and chock full of emotion. Made up of singer/guitarist Laena Geronimo, bassist Amy Allen, guitarist and vocalist Shannon Lay, and drummer Michael Perry Rudes, Feels are the kind of band that sweeps you up in their music live, thanks to the almost eerie interplay between the members and their instruments which is both intense and effortless all at once.

I’ll curb my gushing here because I’ve already written them a few public love letters masquerading as articles and also because I need to get back to Ally McBeal (sometimes my theme song is “Bitched”, you can listen to it below, I listen to it in my head while I walk down the street in the new power blazers I recently purchased).

1. What is your life motto?

Laena: “Carpe Diem” I suppose

L: Yasi Salek

A: My grandma Dee Dee. She worked hard and partied harder and taught me that eating pot brownies helps you live longer

3. What is your idea of abject misery?

L: Paralysis

S: Going to bed hungry, complaining about what doesn’t matter, and forgetting what’s really important

L: I have no idea

A: Spending quality time on the road with my bandmates

S: Sundays

L: Hanes

L: Dead Moon, Royal Trux, Total Control, Thee Oh Sees…………….. all of them?

A: Total Control, Destruction Unit, Wax Idols, DEAD MOON – a shit ton! Looking forward to see all the bands I’ve never experienced yet. I’m ready to fall in love
